The Rodel Foundation of Arizona is excited to announce a new partnership with the Arizona State Fair and Ray Cammack Shows, Inc., that will celebrate learning for members of all three of Rodel’s initiatives. Two thousand MAC-Ro Math Initiative students, parents and teachers from high-need schools across the state will be participating in Rodel’s first-ever Arizona State Fair Field Trip Day on Oct. 31 to help build excitement for the program and reinforce the idea that math can be fun. In addition to the MAC-Ro field trip, the State Fair has generously provided 150 VIP Packages, allowing some of Rodel’s Exemplary Teachers and Exemplary Principals the opportunity to enjoy the Fair on their own time.
“The Arizona State Fair has a long tradition of showcasing what’s great about our state and bringing together residents from far and wide,” said Jackie Norton, Rodel President and CEO. “This partnership will give our students a chance to take part in that experience. For some who will be coming from as far away as Tuba City, Congress and Casa Grande, it may be their first time visiting Phoenix.”
The students, all fourth- and fifth-graders, will participate in a MAC-Ro assembly with Rodel partners Bobby & Baxter from the Arizona Diamondbacks, followed by a morning enjoying the Fair’s many exhibits and attractions before the grounds are open to the public. A few of the new interactive activities that will be made available to MAC-Ro students include Butterfly Adventure, Our Body, and Behemoth Bugland.
“We are proud and honored to partner with Rodel Foundation of Arizona and to support its educational initiatives,” said Don West, Executive Director of the Arizona State Fair. “This alliance directly connects to the Fair’s mission of offering all Arizonans a multitude of affordable educational and cultural activities in a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.”
The Arizona State Fair, now in its 128th year, kicked off on Oct. 12 and runs through Nov. 4, at the fairgrounds on 19th Avenue and McDowell Road in downtown Phoenix. This year’s Fair promises to bring family-friendly traditions like the Great American Petting Zoo as well as a number of unique attractions and entertainment options for all ages and interests to the Phoenix gathering.
